At Clare

In mid-September there was water in Porter’s Lagoon. During the summer Porter’s Lagoon becomes a saltpan However, the birds were few and far between when I sat for an hour or so having my lunch there. A few people drove down the edge of the lagoon, looked around, then drove off.

Porter’s Lagoon

What was interesting about Porters Lagoon was that the grassland between the trees and water was native–apparently this is one of the few areas of native grasses left in South Australia. It’s minimal (1 per cent) and most of that 1 per cent is in private hands.
